With style, heart and history
Traditions and the history of South Tyrol - that's what you'll find everywhere at hotel Fronza. In the rooms, while enjoying culinary delights, while celebrating.
From a farm to a gourmet hotel
When Andreas and Petra Abfalterer took over the hotel in 2010, they wanted to continue a long tradition and preserve it for the future. Today, a part of this history can be felt in many places in the hotel.
Originally the Fronza was a South Tyrolean farm with a small joinery. Andreas's father Johann Abfalterer laid the foundation stone for the Hotel Fronza in the 1960s. Together with his wife Margareth they turned the farm into the holiday home Abfalterer and rented some rooms to the first holiday guests, later it became the Pension Abfalterer. From 1984 to the beginning of 2019 the hotel was called Ahrntaler Alpenhof. Johann and Margareth were considered pioneers in Lutago. They were co-initiators of the first ski lift in the village and built the first indoor swimming pool in the Valle Aurina for their guests.
Back to the roots
Today, the Ahrntaler Alpenhof bears its original name "Fronza" again, which is still known among the locals of the Valle Aurina and the Valle Pusteria. The farm name of the original farm is derived from the first name of its builder. The name "Franz“, in the dialect of the Valle Aurina is pronounced "Fronz". This is how the farm name "Fronza" originated.
